How Google Uses Phone Calls with Business Profiles

Google may call or text your business if your phone number is publicly listed on your Google Business Profile. These interactions are automated and designed to help keep information accurate for customers.

Here’s what to expect:

Google May:

  • Confirm business information such as hours, location details, or availability

  • Request quick updates (for example: “Are you open right now?”)

  • Help fulfill customer actions — calling to make a reservation or ask a question on behalf of a searcher

  • Offer phone or SMS verification as one of several verification options during setup or major profile changes

Google Will Not:

  1. Ask you to pay for verification

  2. Require lengthy interactions or personal account information

If phone verification is available for your profile, Google will provide a PIN code through a phone call or SMS. You enter that code in your profile dashboard to confirm your listing.

Controlling These Calls

If you prefer not to receive automated calls:

  • You can adjust this in your Business Profile settings

  • You can opt out during a call

  • You may also leave a voicemail request at +1-650-206-5555

Best Practice

Log directly into your Google Business Profile dashboard to monitor updates and ensure your profile information is always accurate.
