How to Add a Delegate in GoDaddy to Access Your Domains
Running a small business often means wearing too many hats—marketing, operations, tech, and everything in between. But when it comes to managing your domain names, giving secure access to the right people can save time and avoid costly mistakes. Whether you’re working with an agency like Talloo or a trusted contractor, GoDaddy makes it simple to grant access without sharing your personal login.
Here’s how to add a delegate the right way.
Step 1: Sign in to GoDaddy
Go to GoDaddy.com and log in to your account using your primary credentials. Once signed in, click your profile name in the upper-right corner and select Account Settings from the dropdown.
Step 2: Open Delegate Access
Inside Account Settings, click Delegate Access. This is where you can both manage who has access to your account and view any accounts you’ve been granted access to.
Step 3: Invite a Delegate
Click Invite to Access. You’ll be prompted to enter:
- Name of the person you’re inviting
- Email address (must be the email they use for their GoDaddy account or one they’ll use to create one)
Then, choose their access level:
- Products & Domains – gives access to manage domains and hosting but not billing.
- Domains Only – restricts access strictly to domain management.
- All Access – full control, including billing and ownership transfers (only use with absolute trust).
At Talloo, we typically recommend selecting Products & Domains so your agency can manage DNS, renewals, and integrations without access to sensitive billing data.
Step 4: Send the Invitation
Click Invite. GoDaddy will email the person you’ve invited. They must accept the invitation to activate their access. Once accepted, they’ll appear in your Delegate list under “People who can access my account.”
Step 5: Confirm and Monitor Access
Once the delegate accepts, confirm they can access the domains you intended. If at any point you need to revoke access, return to the Delegate Access page and click Delete next to their name.
Why This Matters
Sharing your GoDaddy credentials directly is risky—it exposes your billing, personal data, and account ownership. Delegate access keeps control in your hands while allowing experts (like your SEO or website partner) to handle the technical side. It’s secure, trackable, and reversible at any time.
Talloo Tip:
When working with digital partners, always retain ownership of your domain and registrar account. Delegate access empowers collaboration without compromise—a best practice for every small business owner protecting their online presence.
