Yelp is one of the most visited review platforms for local businesses. Customers use it to find businesses, read reviews, and decide who to call. Claiming your Yelp listing gives you control over how your business appears and lets you respond to reviews.
This guide walks you through claiming your listing and adding Talloo as a manager.
What You Need Before You Start
- Your business name, address, phone number, and website
- An email address you can access (this becomes your Yelp login)
- Access to your listed business phone number (for verification)
Step 1: Go to Yelp for Business
Open a web browser and go to biz.yelp.com.
Click Manage my free listing.
Step 2: Find Your Business
- Enter your business name and location in the search fields
- Select your business from the results
If your business does not appear, you can add it by clicking Add your business to Yelp at the bottom of the search results page.
Step 3: Create Your Yelp Account
If you do not already have a Yelp business account:
- Enter your first name, last name, and email address
- Create a password
- Click Create Account
If you already have a Yelp account, click Sign In and use your existing credentials.
Step 4: Claim Your Listing
After selecting your business:
- Review the business information shown
- Click Claim this business
- Yelp will ask you to verify your ownership
Step 5: Verify Your Business
Yelp will verify that you are authorized to manage the listing. The most common method is an automated phone call to your listed business phone number.
When the call comes in, listen for the verification code and enter it on the screen.
If the phone number on file is not current, update it after completing verification.
Step 6: Complete Your Profile
Once your listing is claimed, fill in your business information:
- Business hours
- Website URL
- Business description
- Photos (exterior, interior, team, work examples)
- Payment methods accepted
- Service area (if applicable)
A complete profile helps customers decide to contact you.
Step 7: Add Talloo as a Manager
This step gives Talloo permission to manage your listing on your behalf.
- From your Yelp for Business dashboard, click Account Settings in the upper right corner
- Select User Accounts from the left-side menu
- Click Invite New User
- Enter the email address provided by your Talloo account manager
- Under Role, select Manager
- Click Send Invitation
Talloo will receive the invitation and accept access. You remain the account owner.
That Is It
Once Talloo accepts the invitation, we can begin managing your Yelp profile as part of your Visibility service. If you run into any issues during setup, reply to your onboarding email and we will help you through it.
Questions Business Owners Often Ask
Is a Yelp business account free?
Yes. Claiming and managing your Yelp business listing is free. Yelp offers paid advertising options, but they are not required to maintain your profile.
How long does Yelp verification take?
Phone verification is usually instant — the automated call comes through within a minute or two of starting the process. If the number on file is out of date, verification can take longer while you update it.
Can I respond to reviews after I claim my listing?
Yes. Once your listing is verified, you can respond publicly or send private messages to reviewers from your Yelp for Business dashboard.
Does adding Talloo as a manager give up ownership of my Yelp account?
No. You remain the account owner. Manager access lets Talloo update business info, respond to reviews, and upload photos on your behalf — but only the owner can transfer or close the account.
What if my business is not listed on Yelp yet?
Click Add your business to Yelp at the bottom of the search results page and enter your details. Yelp will create the listing and walk you through claiming and verifying it.
