Step 1: Open Google Search Console
Sign in to the account that owns your property.
- Go to search.google.com/search-console
- Sign in with the Google account that is the verified owner of your website
- Select your website from the property dropdown at the top left if you manage more than one
Step 2: Go to Users and Permissions
Navigate to the user management area.
- Click "Settings" at the bottom of the left menu
- Select "Users and permissions"
This screen shows everyone who currently has access. If you see accounts that should no longer be there, remove them first.
Step 3: Add Your User
Invite the person who needs access.
- Click the "Add User" button at the top right
- Enter their email address (it must be tied to a Google account)
- Select a permission level
- Click "Add"
Choosing a permission level:
- Restricted can view most reports but change nothing
- Full can view all data and submit sitemaps
- Owner has full control, including managing users
Full is the right choice for most people managing your search presence. Only a verified owner can add or remove users, so keep ownership with you.
Step 4: You're Done
The new user receives an email notification and can access your property the next time they sign in to Search Console.
