How to Set Up Your Business on Nextdoor

How to Set Up Your Business on Nextdoor

Nextdoor is a neighborhood-based platform where local residents share recommendations and look for trusted businesses nearby. A verified Nextdoor business page lets you reach customers in your specific service area and appear in neighbor recommendations.

This guide walks you through creating your page and adding Talloo as a manager.

What You Need Before You Start

  • Your business name, address, phone number, and website
  • An email address you can access (this becomes your Nextdoor login)
  • Your business address (Nextdoor ties your page to a geographic neighborhood)

Step 1: Go to Nextdoor for Business

Open a web browser and go to business.nextdoor.com.

Click Get started or Claim your free Business Page.

Step 2: Search for Your Business

  • Enter your business name and zip code
  • If your business appears in the results, select it
  • If it does not appear, choose the option to add your business and enter your details manually

Step 3: Create Your Nextdoor Account

If you do not already have a Nextdoor account:

  • Enter your name, email address, and create a password
  • Click Create Account

If you already have a personal Nextdoor account, you can sign in with those credentials and connect your business page to your existing account.

Step 4: Claim or Set Up Your Business Page

  • Confirm your business name, address, category, and phone number
  • Click Claim this business or Create my page
  • Nextdoor may ask for additional details to confirm you are associated with the business

Step 5: Verify Your Business

Nextdoor verifies business ownership to prevent unauthorized claims. Common verification methods include:

  • Postcard by mail sent to your business address with a verification code
  • Phone verification via an automated call to your listed number

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the method available to you. Postcard verification typically takes 5 to 7 business days.

You can continue setting up your profile while waiting for verification.

Step 6: Complete Your Profile

Once your page is set up, fill in your business details:

  • Business description (what you do and who you serve)
  • Service area (the neighborhoods or zip codes you serve)
  • Business hours
  • Website URL
  • Photos (logo, team, or examples of your work)

Nextdoor uses your service area to determine which neighborhoods your page appears in, so keep this accurate.

Step 7: Add Talloo as a Manager

This step gives Talloo permission to manage your page on your behalf.

  • From your Nextdoor Business dashboard, click Settings in the left-side menu
  • Select Business Managers
  • Click Invite a Manager
  • Enter the email address provided by your Talloo account manager
  • Click Send Invitation

Talloo will receive the invitation and accept access. You remain the page owner.

That Is It

Once Talloo accepts the invitation, we can begin managing your Nextdoor business page as part of your Visibility service. If you run into any issues during setup, reply to your onboarding email and we will help you through it.

Questions Business Owners Often Ask

Is a Nextdoor business page free?

Yes. Claiming and managing a Nextdoor business page is free. Nextdoor also offers paid Local Deals and ads, but they are not required to maintain your page.

How long does Nextdoor verification take?

Phone verification is usually instant. Postcard verification typically takes 5 to 7 business days from the date Nextdoor mails the code to your business address.

Why does Nextdoor ask for my service area?

Nextdoor uses your service area to decide which neighborhoods see your page in search and recommendations. The more accurate the service area, the more relevant your reach.

Can I use my personal Nextdoor account for my business page?

Yes. You can connect a business page to an existing personal Nextdoor account, or create a new account specifically for the business.

Does adding Talloo as a manager transfer ownership of my page?

No. You remain the page owner. Manager access lets Talloo update business info, post updates, and respond to neighbor messages on your behalf.
