Adding a user to Google Analytics lets someone view your reports or manage your analytics setup without sharing your password. You control exactly what they can see and do.
Estimated time: 2-3 minutes.
Step 1: Open Google Analytics
Sign in to the account that owns your property.
- Go to analytics.google.com
- Sign in with the Google account that has Administrator access
- Select your property if you manage more than one
Step 2: Go to Access Management
Navigate to the user management area.
- Click the Admin gear icon at the bottom left
- Under the Property column, click "Property Access Management"
Property level gives access to one property only. Account Access Management gives access to everything under your account. Property level is the right choice for most situations.
Step 3: Add Your User
Invite the person who needs access.
- Click the "+" button at the top right
- Select "Add users"
- Enter their email address (it must be tied to a Google account)
- Check "Notify new users by email"
- Select a role
- Click "Add"
Choosing a role: Give the lowest level of access the person needs.
- Viewer can see reports but change nothing
- Analyst can build reports and explorations
- Marketer can manage audiences and conversions
- Editor can change property settings
- Administrator can do everything, including managing users
If someone is managing your analytics for you, Editor is usually the right role. Keep Administrator for yourself.
Step 4: You're Done
The new user receives an email and can access your property the next time they sign in to Google Analytics.
